Regarding DC-DC Chargers and solar controllers, you must change these to LiFePO4-specific models, which can charge your Lithium batteries to an entire 100% State of Charge. The advantage of using a LiFePO4 charge profile is that it allows users to get the total capacity out of their lithium battery, as the DC-DC LiFePO4 setting will prolong the battery life. You need a DC-DC charger to effectively manage the power input in a lithium battery. **If you are charging from an alternator, you will need a DC-DC Charger that is designed to manage solar specific to lithium (LiFEPO4).

What is a BMS?
A Battery Management System (BMS) is an electronic system that manages a rechargeable battery (cell or battery pack), such as a lithium-ion or lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery. It is responsible for monitoring and controlling various aspects of the battery's operation to optimize performance.
Current Regulation:
- 150AMP Rating: The BMS is designed to handle a maximum continuous current of 150 amperes. This means it can safely manage the flow of up to 150 amps of electrical current during charging and discharging cycles.

** This Giant Power battery is ideal for up to a 1200W inverter. If you exceed this limit, it could damage the BMS Management inside the battery. If you need a battery for a larger inverter size, please please freecall our experts for the best advice or look at a larger battery size with a 200AMP BMS for more discharge.
** Lithium Batteries much like your phone battery are sent in a discharged state - so you must charge before their first use. A new battery has to be completely charged before first use for the optimal battery life and increased performance.
12V Deep Cycle batteries, you should set your charger profile to charge up to 14.6 volts for 30 minutes and then float charge at 13.6 volts. For a 12V system, we really want to emphasize reaching 14.2V – 14.6V for bulk and absorption and float to be 13.8V or lower. That means a 12-volt lithium battery will boast a normal maximum voltage of 13.6 volts when fully charged. And even after discharging 10% of their nominal capacity, they still have 13.4 volts at resting voltage (a loss of only 0.2 volts). ***Note that all 12V batteries above 12Ah, configured in Series, must be charged individually with a 12V charger.

How long do Giant Lithium Batteries last?
Through extensive cycle testing, we have determined that, after 4,500 complete discharge cycles in extreme conditions, our lithium batteries will have 85% battery life left. The average user not operating their battery in extreme conditions will have 90% battery capacity after 5,000 cycles. Charging and discharging your Giant Batteries every day would last you between 15 and 20 years.With a 5-year pro-rata warranty, our lithium batteries will keep you powered for years.
Calculating How Long Will a 100Ah Battery Last
It is easy to calculate how long will a 100Ah battery last for you. For calculations, you need to be aware of how the capacity is expressed. Let us go through these various expressions:
Watt hours is the load in Watts that the battery can sustain for one hour. It is expressed as ‘Wh’. It is better to use Watt hours than Amp hours for calculating run time. This is because Watt hours provide a better representation of energy consumption. The appliances you use will have a Watts rating instead of an Ah rating. Therefore, calculating the Wh of the battery is useful.
To calculate Watt hours, multiply the Amp-hours by the battery voltage. Most deep-cycle batteries work on a 12 V system. The amp hours in this situation are already fixed to 100 amp hours. Therefore the watt hours for a 100ah battery will be:
Wh = Amp hours x Voltage
= 100 Ah x 12 V
= 1200 Wh
When you design a 12V electrical system, you need to make sure your battery bank size matches your power requirements. Battery voltage matters for a variety of reasons. Namely, it allows you to determine how much power your battery is capable of supplying, how much voltage you need for certain electronics, and even the charge state. Measuring battery voltage is important because it allows you to determine the battery’s state of charge. The best way to do this is with either a multimeter or a battery monitor, or shunt setup such as the Victron Energy Battery Monitor BMV-712 or Ardent Smart Shunt.
Overall, LifePO4 batteries have the safest lithium chemistry. Why?
Lead acid, and most other battery types don’t have the level of thermal and structural stability that LiFePO4 does. LiFePO4 is incombustible. It can withstand high temperatures without decomposing. It’s not prone to thermal runaway and will keep cool at room temperature. If you subject a LiFePO4 battery to harsh temperatures or hazardous events (like short-circuiting or a crash), it won’t start a fire or explode. This fact comforts many of our customers who use deep-cycle LiFePO4 batteries daily in an RV, boat, caravan, or camping application.
